Long-Thompson introduces Dennie Oxley as her running mate:

Jill Long-Thompson met with a small crowd near Fort Wayne International Airport this afternoon to introduce Dennie Oxley as her choice for Lieutenant Governor. A short meet and greet took place before Rep. Win Moses took the podium to introduce Long-Thompson, who then in turn, introduced Oxley. Both candidates spoke for several minutes about their vision for the state of Indiana.
Long Thompson:
Oxley:
Oxley was first elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1998, and represents portions of eight southern Indiana counties as well as serving as Majority Whip for the House Democratic Caucus.

Long Thompson:
"Dennie;s legislative career demonstrates that he is an effective leader and a champion of working people. His experience in the legislature, in the classroom, and in the business world will be put to good use. He's exactly the kind of Lieutenant Governor we need to help bring new prosperity and opportunity to communities across Indiana."
Oxley:
"Jill is a proven leader with executive experience - and I'm honored to partner with her to fight for better opportunities for all Hoosier families. Together we will work to grow our economy, protect good-paying jobs, lower health care costs for working famiies, strengthen our schools and overhaul the entire tax structure to make Indiana more competitive."

Jill Long-Thompson is "Wright" Choice
Dear Friends,
Hoosier Democrats have a great opportunity, not only in the presidential contest, but also in the primary for Governor to nominate the best and strongest candidates for November 2008.
I want to make sure you know about Jill Long Thompson, the candidate I'm supporting for Governor.
It's clear that Indiana is facing some hard economic times. We need a Governor who recognizes the unique challenges that each of our communities face and and who will provide our local communities with the tools necessary to be successful.
Jill Long Thompson can bring people together to rebuild our economy by protecting our good jobs and attracting new ones. She’ll work to improve our schools, provide affordable health care and make sure our tax code is both fair and equitable.
She has the experience and proven ability to help Indiana because she's done it before as a Congresswoman and as the U.S. Under Secretary of Agriculture for Rural Development.
I hope you'll join me in voting for Jill in the Democratic Primary for Governor on May 6th. Check out her website below for more information.

So Far, So Good for Jill Long Thompson
Blue Indiana brings us recent polling data from WISH-TV showing that Long Thompson has a substantial early lead over the other two Democratic candidates in the Gubernatorial primary race.
There's no guarantee that these early numbers will hold as we get closer to primary day, but I would certainly rather be in Long Thompson's position at this point. Some discounted her candidacy because of her late entry into the race but I was very impressed with her message when she came through Fort Wayne to announce her candidacy:
I stand by that statement and I think we're going to have quite a primary race to determine who our next governor is...
Research 2000 -- (9/10 - 9/14)
Margin: +/- 3.5%
If the 2008 Democratic Primary for Governor were held today, which of the following candidates would you vote for?
Jill Long Thompson: 41%
Richard Young: 16%
Jim Schellinger: 10%
Undecided: 33%

I think she's going to be a good candidate as it sounds like she's going to run a populist campaign based around reforming our state tax structure and protecting Indiana jobs.
I know she's behind in the money-race but I wouldn't count her out as a populist message can be very powerful in this state...

Jill Long Thompson's Fort Wayne Announcement
I was at Jill's gubernatorial announcement today and there was a crowd of about 100 people that seemed very enthusiastic about her campaign. I think she's going to be a good candidate as it sounds like she's going to run a populist campaign based around reforming our state tax structure and protecting Indiana jobs.
