The Biggest Upset In Fort Wayne History

Karen Goldner Wins!

Un-f'in-believable. What a night! Congratulations to Karen. That is how you run a campaign! She beat the streets, she knocked on every door, she talked to every single person that wanted to talk. Karen Goldner will make a great city councilmember. Karen has shown that Democrats can win anywhere in this state. What a night to be a Democrat in Fort Wayne!

I am extremely happy for Karen. I do wish the she had a larger lead, but hey, a win is a win!

She never knocked on my door, but I voted for her anyway. :-) Congrats Karen!

While I picked Don Schmidt in a very close election Goldner pulled it out with hard work. Congrats to her and best wishes in carrying out her position.

Let's not forget to show a little appreciation to Jon Bartels and the Libertarian Party for helping Karen get the slight edge.

Thank you all. This has been (and continues to be) quite an experience. A 13-vote margin puts to rest anyone's concern that their vote or their effort doesn't matter in local government!

Actually Karen's results do NOT show that Democrats can win anywhere!

They show that a candidate that works extremely hard, walks their district, and raises a lot of money can win...

That is a great thing and I find it very encouraging.

Congratulations Karen! I look forward to seeing you in action on the council. I was surprised at the close margin, but thrilled that you came through!

Karen ran a great campaign and it looks like she'll run a great recount effort, presuming Schmidt asks for a recount. I'm so proud of her! Pounding the pavement, talking about real issues and doing direct mail really does result in votes. The hardest-working city council candidate may become the hardest-working city councilwoman!

You're right Mike. Too many people write off a district/county/etc because it's too Democratic or too Republican...

Awesome! Congrats Karen! It is apparent, the complexion of this city is changing. We want to be more progressive, and this "old way" of thinking isn't cutting it anymore.
