Fort Wayne Trivia

Okay. . .these may be going out to a slightly older audience than we have here at Fort Wayne Left, but take a shot at them anyway. It's always interesting to learn new things about your hometown, and, I'd like to gauge the interest on this as a regular feature here. . .say, once per week. Let us know your thoughts on that, and see if you can answer these Fort Wayne trivia questions:

1. Where was the first Scott's grocery store located, and what was it's original name?

2. Where was the area's first McDonald's located and what year did it open?

3. What famous country and western singer died in a Fort Wayne motel in 1968?

Good luck! Answers and pats on the back tomorrow night.

Red Foley died at the Howard Johnson's east of the then US 30/Washington Blvd./Bueter Road cloverleaf and just east of the then Fort Wayne city limits.

Mr. Foley was the father-in-law of singer Pat Boone.

Okay, all: the answers. . .

1. Scott's Foodlane was located at the corner of Fairfield and Taylor.

2. Sorry, Colleen. The 1st AREA Micky D's was (and still is) located on Highway 30 East between Fort Wayne and new Haven. It opened in 1958.
