The Latest in Military Weaponry - The "Gay Bomb"

In a previous post I chastised a JG letter to the editor where the writer had surmised that banning guns would ultimately lead to even the police not needing to carry them. I wrote "This is literally the stupidest idea I have heard in a long, long time." Well it didn't take long for a new idea to trump that one in stupidity. The latest? Someone from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton proposed to build a "gay bomb":
The Ohio Air Force lab proposed that a bomb be developed that contained a chemical that would cause enemy soldiers to become gay, and to have their units break down because all their soldiers became irresistibly attractive to one another," Hammond said after reviewing the documents.

Pentagon officials on Friday confirmed to CBS 5 that military leaders had considered, and then subsequently rejected, building the so-called "Gay Bomb."

I think this speaks for itself and I have nothing to add...

It sounds like a idea for a Austin Powers movie.

This one's been around, Danger Room mentioned again:

"I remember the Gay Bomb story, having covered it in New Scientist a couple of years ago -- -- right after Noah made his initial report -- and being amused by the subsequent media interest. It's in wikipedia and even has its own web site ("Make Love Not War.") The media rediscovered it this week, and there have been the usual barrage of queries."

but

"And granted, the "Gay Bomb" never received any federal funding."

Is asserted there.
