I previously wrote that I was little surprised that Senator Lugar had not done a fundraiser or offered Matt Kelty any kind of public endorsement. This is strange because Kelty highlights the work he's done for Lugar and even has a picture with him on his website. But now one must really wonder what's going on between Lugar and Kelty because Lugar has publicly endorsed Liz Brown in a recent mailer (shown below).
What does it say about Matt Kelty that Senator Lugar won't do a mailer for him but will for Liz Brown? I think it says Lugar agrees that Kelty should not be our next mayor...

You bring up an interesting point. Then again why did he not support the rest of the ticket?
Then again where are the top state Demo leaders supporting the locals here?
Just food for tought.
When it comes to Matt Kelty, the who's who in the local GOP are much like Brooke Shield's ass in those old Jordache commercials. They're screaming "Let ME out of HERE"!
JQ,
I think the answers to those questions are obvious. Matt Kelty touts his former work with Senator Lugar as valuable political experience and has his picture on his website. You would think, given Lugar's fundraising for mayoral candidates in the past AND his endorsement of Brown, that he would have said something about Kelty. Do you honestly believe Kelty hasn't asked him for support?
When was the last time Senator Bayh supported a Democratic candidate in Fort Wayne? He didn't even help Tom Hayhurst and that was a congressional race. Comparing Bayh to Lugar is apples and oranges. But I would think that if Tom Henry had worked for Senator Bayh in the past then he would have his support.
Let's not be too coy here - there's obviously a reason Lugar isn't supporting Kelty and I think we all understand why that might be...
Worth noting however, is that Liz Brown's campaign committee donated $1500 to Lugars campaign.
That was on the latest campaign report filings.
Wow Kevin, money or not, I am confident that Lugar is supporting Liz Brown for all the right reasons. Vote Liz Brown.
