When discussing the support for the two candidates for the Fort Wayne City Council’s 4th District on Sunday, we failed to mention one of the odder endorsements.
Democrat Chris Stewart touted the unsurprising endorsements of Tom Henry and Councilman Tom Hayhurst, D-4th, who is not seeking re-election.
Republican Mitch Harper, however, has received the support of the Democrat who won this year’s primary for the council seat. Charles Langley posted his support for Harper on his Web log, www.fwadfontes.blogspot.com. Langley dropped out of the race this summer because of a new work commitment and idol-worship of Mitch, and was replaced on the ballot by Stewart.
Harper was also endorsed by our own Jeff Pruitt here at Fort Wayne Left.
Charles and Jeff, I truly enjoy your company at our weekend breakfast meetings. Moving forward, however, I will not be leaving my coffee cup unattended in your presence! If I have a "nature call", and Robert is not in attendance, I will NOT return to our table afterwards. Whatever you guys are imbibing shall not pass by these lips!
If you persist in being pulled towards the dark side, I will have no recourse but to call in Obi Win k'Moses to retrain you in the ways of the Progressive Force! Consider yourself as having been warned. . .

I chose not to do endorsements here at FWL - for Mitch or anyone else. However, I did tell everyone who I voted for...
Ouch - I wonder if I would be allowed to guard the java if I were to ever get up early enough to attend the weekend breakfast meetings? It's hard to decide between party lines and friends.
I have kept quiet about my feelings because I too know Mitch Harper, and he is a very likable man - but he's not in my party.
I guess the only way to be sure of my loyalty would be to trust the java under my watch and see what happens!
