Indiana: Voter Protection

Be prepared when you go to vote. Do not be deterred from your right to cast your ballot:

The "Liberty to Hope" Tour

CONNERSVILLE - The Barry Welsh for Congress Campaign is finishing in the same manner that they have operated under this entire election cycle, on the road. The Welsh Campaign is announcing “The Liberty to Hope Tour”. Welsh will cover 14 counties in 2 days on Saturday November 1st and Sunday November2nd.(See schedule below)

Barry Welsh will begin the tour in Liberty, in Union County on Saturday Morning, and end the tour on Sunday in Hope, In Bartholomew County. Welsh said,
“The reason for this tour is two fold, first to thank all of the tens of thousands of people that have already voted for us in early voting and to thank all of those that are working everyday for change. We also want to give a thank you and final opportunity to speak to all of our fellow candidates across the ticket. In addition to the well deserved thank yous, the tour also gives undecided voters a final chance to come out and meet me in person and ask questions that will inform their vote.

The voters will be able to see me in person and make up their own minds. That is yet another of the differences between my opponent and myself. For me it’s all about the people, and not the big money special interests. We have been to all of the counties numerous times, but we wanted to do one final tour of this great area. We are very excited about this tour, and are confident that it will push us over the top on November 4th. We will be in support of Gov. Candidate Jill Long Thompson and Lt. Gov. Candidate Dennie Oxley as much as possible when their tour comes through the district, but we are going out one final time on our own tour just to say thank you once again to the voters.”

Top 5 Reasons Obama Supporters Shouldn't Rest Easy

1. The polls may be wrong. This is an unprecedented election. No one knows how racism may affect what voters tell pollsters—or what they do in the voting booth. And the polls are narrowing anyway. In the last few days, John McCain has gained ground in most national polls, as his campaign has gone even more negative.

2. Dirty tricks. Republicans are already illegally purging voters from the rolls in some states. They're whipping up hysteria over ACORN to justify more challenges to new voters. Misleading flyers about the voting process have started appearing in black neighborhoods. And of course, many counties still use unsecure voting machines.

3. October surprise. In politics, 15 days is a long time. The next McCain smear could dominate the news for a week. There could be a crisis with Iran, or Bin Laden could release another tape, or worse.

4. Those who forget history... In 2000, Al Gore won the popular vote after trailing by seven points in the final days of the race. In 1980, Reagan was eight points down in the polls in late October and came back to win. Races can shift—fast!

5. Landslide. Even with Barack Obama in the White House, passing universal health care and a new clean-energy policy is going to be hard. Insurance, drug and oil companies will fight us every step of the way. We need the kind of landslide that will give Barack a huge mandate.

Knuth responds to GOP dirty tricks - Asks GOP Chair to take action on bogus Web site

Fort Wayne, IN – Today Allen County Council Candidate Kevin Knuth called on GOP Chairman Steve Shine to clarify the local Republican Party’s position on recent smear tactics that appear to be the work of one of its members. In a letter to Shine, Knuth noted that over the weekend, a “parody” Web site (www.kevinknuthforcouncil.com) was launched. This site asks for donations to be sent to the Allen County GOP. Knuth’s real site is www.kevinknuth.com. The parody site uses graphics stolen from the official site to make it appear real. “The site is offensive. It does not reflect my campaign for Council,” said Knuth. “Further, it goes far beyond parody as it makes an attempt to funnel donations to the GOP.”

A search of Internet records indicates that the bogus website is hosted on the same servers as websites for the Allen County GOP, the Allen County Sheriff and others. All of these sites are controlled by TEK Interactive. Dan Turkette is listed as “Principal Owner” of TEK according to Better Business Bureau Records, and is a well known GOP insider and a member of the Allen County GOP Central Committee. In addition Turkette is a founding member of the Allen County Conservative Breakfast Club. “I am concerned that the attempt to raise donations on this site will confuse those who may want to support my campaign. Shine needs to clarify the GOP’s position on this dirty trick. He should publicly denounce the move and cut all business ties between the GOP and TEK immediately. Failure to do so shows he approves of this meddling in the electoral process,” stated Knuth.

Rape Victim Assails Palin On Choice

Women Against McCain-Palin have released this short, emotionally blunt advertisement in which a young woman relates how Sarah Palin's policies could have played out in her life, to her detriment.

"I was raped, and then I got pregnant. Sarah Palin believes the government should be able to force me to carry the pregnancy to term. Sarah Palin believes that the government should make that choice. Not me. Governor Palin, I didn't have a choice about being raped. But I should have a choice about this."

Souder Signs Violate City Ordinance

Congressman Mark Souder is blatantly violating the city's ordinance regarding political signs. That ordinance prohibits campaign signs from being placed in the public right of way and requires that they may only be placed on private property. It further states that these signs can be no closer than 40 feet to any intersection. Souder has signs that violate these definitions in at least two areas that I observed today - The intersection of Covington and Scott Roads, in front of the city fire station

. . . and at the intersection of Covington and Dicke Roads.
